Communication and Public Policies: understanding the public administration like a social actor
I think
that keeping myself only with my first career is not the correct decision of
all, mostly because I want to come back home, in Chiloe, and found a job can be
very difficult for a journalist. So, if I want to survive and serve in some
public areas, like in city halls, I’ll have to be more functional on social
work skills. That’s why I’ve decided to pursue my studies focusing in political
sciences, but I only have one problem: this career doesn’t exist in my country,
we just have a similar career: Public Administration.
So, thinking
in the economic difficulties that I can present in my first years like a
journalist, I’ve decided that I can extend my journalism career to a postgraduate
course focusing in public policies in Chile. Universidad de Chile has a big postgraduate
program based in journalism; where I found a Certificate in Communication and
Public Policies, oriented to journalist that already work in some level from
the public area and civil society. The program has a lot of practical course where
I can learn how to create communication strategies adapted to the necessities of
an organization, increase the public participation and development the public
administration like a social actor.
