I want to be journalist from a city hall.
I want to be a journalist from a city hall.
I study journalism and because of that I always feel a little pressured when people ask me about my job options for the future, because, let’s face it: being a journalist in Chile it’s not the easiest thing, specially if you are not from Santiago. I’m from Dalcahue, Chiloé, and over there, journalism is not a very common job. So, even if I wanna go back to Chiloé after I’ve finished this career, it’s very difficult to think where to work being a journalist, at least in press. So, thinking of this situation, I’ve decided to work with the city halls of Chiloé. Chiloé island is composed of many small towns, and they all have their own city halls too, so I’ve decided that I can work in a division where I can fill comunications roles, like comunity development departments, where I can work outside, on the streets and rural areas, talking with people and help them with his difficulties, demands and necessities.
The most exciting part of this job is that I’ll have to travel a lot around the Island, especially around rural areas, working with farmers and also working with people that work at sea, two of the most important sources of employment on the island.
